Removable License Plate

One of the first mods I did to my car, was removing that ugly-ass front license plate. It really ruins the look of the car. Just recently, I was pulled for a very minor traffic infraction. The infraction was so minor that I did not get a ticket for it. However, the officer wanted to make some sort of impression on me, so he decided to write me a fix-it ticket for having no front plate. Seemed like he was trying to say "Drive nicely or we will take away your toys."

Anyway, I did not want to put the front plate back on, so I pulled a fast one on them. Take your spare license plate, and find a license plate frame. Anything will work. I found one in my garage from my roommates old Camaro. Get two very short bolts, and attach the plate to the frame. Once you have it tightened down, attach the plate/frame to the front of the car with Velcro.

Because of the bolts showing in the front, it appears as if the plate is bolted directly onto the car. It LOOKS great. However, I would not attempt to drive the car like this. It is very flimsy. If the officer signing off your ticket decides to pull or yank on the plate, you are going to be in trouble. :) But it looks pretty obvious that you have a front license plate, so I do not think any one would check it out that thoroughly. The bigger the bolt head the better!

So drive down to the station, attach the plate, get the ticket signed off, wait for the cop to leave and pull it off again. Or if he stays to watch you leave for some reason, drive slowly out of the parking lot and around the corner, and then remove it. Also, I would suggest pulling the Velcro off of your car afterwards as well. It is not very noticable, but you might get some weird questions. :)
